Aliens: Colonial Marines Mods Improve Lighting and Dx10

By   /   Feb 15, 2013

Few communities are as dedicated as the PC gaming community, and this has been displayed once again as Aliens: Colonial Marines has been out on PC for almost 24 hours, and the visual mods for the game have already been made.

One such mod adds DirectX 10 support to the game, enabling better lighting, shadows, weapon reflections and muzzle flashes. It tweaks illumination to bounce and reflect off weapon textures and other surfaces. It also makes the game load faster, which is always a plus.

The second mod is called SweetFX and it features deeper color saturation, a sharpened texture filter, stronger shadows, and a faint blue gradient for outdoor areas to try and make it feel more like an authentic Aliens experience.

The second mod is really up to your taste, but I really have to say that the DX10 is a must for anyone persevering with the game. It makes a big difference.
