Rage Toolkit Arrives On Steam

By   /   Feb 9, 2013

Developer of Rage, iD, has released the toolkit of the game today on Steam. This information was made public on the official Bethesda blog. Keep in mind that the toolkit is humongous in size. In fact, it’s a whooping 35GB download.

However, I’m sure this bit of news won’t deter all the eager modders out there, who just cannot wait to put their own spin on the game. But Bethesda warns that only “technically sophisticated and adventurous modders” bother to download this big toolkit. Bethesda has also released two pdf documents to introduce the aspiring modders to the Rage toolkit.

Furthermore, iD’s code master, John Carmack tweeted the following:

The toolkit release is not something that we consider consumer friendly, but it does let you get a look inside the construction process.

And also the following:

Doing significant work will require patience, because internally we use a 300 core renderfarm for megatexture creation.

Well, it seems like all the Rage modders have their work cut out for them.
