Guild Wars 2’s dynamic leveling system has recently gone through some changes which have been addressed now by ArenaNet in a new dev blog post.
Isaiah Cartwright, the lead game designer for Guild Wars 2 pointed out that the January 28th update included two major changes to dynamic leveling. These changes will act as incentives for players to return to low-level zones, which will be now “more fun and better balanced”, as well as better rewarding.
First of the said changes “changed the formula for how attributes are calculated when the dynamic leveling adjustment system scales [players' levels] down.” Secondly, the developer “changed the formula for how rewards are calculated when scaled down to make it more rewarding for high-level players to visit lower-level areas.”
Cartwright noted that the new changes will increase the difficulty of some lower-level zones but will also balance them out to provide “fun for players of any level.” Now the game will “accurately reflect the attributes [players] should have at that level for a similarly geared character.”
The designer also said that ArenaNet plans to bring about more changes this year to Guild Wars 2, in terms of more content, better reward systems and more.
