Roxas Teases Us About a New Kingdom Hearts Game

By   /   Jan 25, 2013

Jesse McCartney, the voice actor and teen heartthrob behind the Kingdom Hearts character, Roxas, posted a picture to his Instagram yesterday.  The picture showed a recording microphone in front of a television screen showing a scene of Roxas talking to his best buddy Axel. McCartney added the caption: “For all you Kingdom Hearts Fans: Recording the Next Chapter!”

As of today, the picture is no longer in his photo stream and the only proof is this picture from Kotaku.  It was replaced by just a picture of him behind a microphone.  Square-Enix protects their intellectual property like Gollum protects the one ring.

The bigger question is, which “next chapter” is he talking about?  Most signs would point to the recently announced Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix that was announced in Japan this past fall. (Warning: Site is Japanese).  The game is set to include Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Re: Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 all with full screen HD cutscenes and added content.

Since Kingdom Hearts 3 hasn’t even been remotely considered by Square-Enix yet, I think it’s safe to say we’ll be getting another re-release of a game we’ve already played.  Sometimes being a Kingdom Hearts fan feels like getting lost in Castle Oblivion, reliving all of our past adventures as if we’ve forgotten them.

Maybe one day we’ll make it out and continue on…
