Windows 8 Has Now Sold Over 60 Million Licenses

By   /   3 years ago

Microsoft has revealed that a total of 60 million Windows 8 licenses have been sold since it’s release 10 weeks ago.

That’s quite an achievement, however, the figures include both upgrades and sales for new devices. Previously it was reported that the amount of individual users purchasing Windows 8 licenses were overshadowed by the figures for upgrades.

Back in November Microsoft revealed that the total sales for their new OS were more than what Windows 7 achieved in the same time frame.

GameIndustry
reports that the US Department of Defence has also purchased an unknown number of licenses, which makes 75% of all Defense personal using the new Windows 8 devices.

That said, many users have shown discontent over Windows 8. Gabe Newell, CEO of Valve expressed his views this week calling the OS a “giant sadness”.
