Doom 4 Might Be Going Next-Gen

By   /   4 years ago

Lead programmer of ID software may have dropped a couple of hints about Doom 4 on his twitter page recently. He was asked what he was up to now that Doom 3 BFG edition was done on his twitter and replied with the following:

Currently home taking care of a new baby girl. When I get back, I’ll help port the big project to new platforms.

This happened to raise a few eyebrows at the office. The ‘Big New Project’ is most likely a reference to Doom 4, a game that we know is being developed. As for the statement that he’ll be helping to ‘port [it] to new platforms’?

Well, it’s a distinct possibility that the Xbox 720 and PS4 will be announced in the coming months, and it doesn’t make much sense to port something to an older platform when the newer version is just around the corner.

Put it all together and it’s a safe bet to say that Doom 4 will be on next-gen consoles.
