The Playstation 2 Bites the Dust in Japan

By   /   4 years ago

The PlayStation 2 is finally dead.

Reputable Japanese magazine Famitsu reports that after 13 years of production, the PlayStation 2 will no longer ship to retailers.

Sony’s PlayStation 2 launched in Japan on March 4, 2000 and went on to sell almost 22 million units in Japan alone, with over 150 million moved worldwide. The popularity of the PS2 lived on throughout 2012, with new title releases and release from developers such as Square Enix, who announced its upcoming Final Fantasy 11: Seekers of Adoulin expansion will release to the PS2 only in Japan in 2013.
