PlanetSide 2 Certifications Guide – Points, Class, Vehicles, Weapons and Squad Leadership


Every multiplayer game gives you the option of progression to become more and more lethal as you gain experience. PlanetSide 2 is no exception, and does so with the Certification System.

Certifications allow access to new equipment and abilities for your character that wouldn’t be available otherwise. These are the main tools to help transform a common player into a killing machine as he/she progresses onwards.

Certification Points

Certifications can be purchased through Certification Points. These are points that are earned both passively and actively.

The points are earned passively over time, whether you are online or offline. Passively, a player earns 1 point every hour. The more effective way to earn points is actively by playing. Points are actively earned by gaining XP. Every 500XP gives you 1 point.

There is no actual limit to the amount of points you can earn.

There are various types of Certifications a player can purchase. Certification types are categorized in the following manner:

  • Class-specific Certifications
  • Squad-Leadership Certifications
  • Weapon Certifications
  • Vehicle Certifications

Class Certifications

Class Certifications are your main method of improving your character. Each of the six classes has their own set of Certifications. These Certifications are listed below in the following manner:

These special certificates are there to give you various Commander Ranks. Each Command Rank gives you bonus leadership abilities, such as the capability of creating spawn locations, reduction on spawn timer, and also the ability to call out an Orbital Strike.
