War of the Roses Crashes, Server Errors, Freezes and Fixes
It can be quite annoying when you have everything to run a game but still can’t manage to run it or when you encounter horrible game breaking issues on release day of your most anticipated game. War of the Roses got released on PC recently and many trying to play it are experiencing these issues.
If you have purchased the game and haven’t managed to run the game yet, refer to the troubleshooting guide for all the workarounds to general issues that you may encounter. Before you read and apply any fix, make sure that you are meeting the minimum system requirements to run the game.
#1 Can’t Manage to Start War of the Roses
It’s worth mentioning here that the game only supports Windows Vista and Windows 7. So if you are running XP, you won’t be able to play the game. Otherwise, you can try verifying the game cache if you are trying to run it through steam.
#2 War of the Roses Error – The game can’t connect to the Back End
This isn’t a persistent problem. Simply restart the game and you will be able to get rid of it.
#3 War of the Roses – The Game Doesn’t Work, It worked fine in Alpha/Beta
If you have tried the alpha or beta version of the game, and now you can’t run the full version, you should do the following to fix the issue:
- Locate the APPDATA file folder (type %APPDATA% in Windows run dialog) and delete all Postman/Fatshark files.
- Then verify your steam game cache.
#4 War of the Roses Problem – Can’t Access the in-game Unlocked Items
It can happen sometimes that the in-game items won’t appear until you disconnect from the server. So, if you have unlocked any items while playing the game, you should disconnect from the server and check the inventory again.
#5 War of the Roses – Nvidia Poor FPS/Performance
If you own a Nvidia card and have the latest drivers installed, you can try the following fix to solve the issue:
- Open Nvidia Control Panel and head to Manage 3D Settings.
- In the Program settings tab, click “Add” and then find “wotr.exe”.
- Now, in the dropdown menu, choose the “High Performance NVIDIA processor”.
#6 War of the Roses Server Issues
Yes, they are annoying. It happens with many multiplayer games. Apparently, they are getting more traffic than they anticipated, which is resulting in frequent lag and disconnections. The technical staff is working on it and will hopefully come up with a solution soon.
#7 War of the Roses – Cant get beyond Steams “Preparing to start”
Like mentioned before, the game does not support Windows XP (requires directX 11). If you are not using windows xp then it’s recommended that you verify the game cache (multiple times may be).
#8 War of the Roses Crash To Desktop (CTD) Issue
If you have tried everything and still can’t manage to run the game as it keeps on crashing, you should post your dxdiag here.
#9 War of the Roses – Regenerative Defensive Perk is Broken
Some users have reported that the issue still persists after the patch. However, it’s a known bug so you can expect it to be fixed soon.
#10 War of the Roses Freeze – Stuck at Loading Screen
You may find yourself stuck at the loading screen due to the next button not being appeared after the loading is complete. The issue is not persistent so restarting the game/pc can fix the issue for you.
#11 War of the Roses – How to Make Nvidia SLI to Work
You can make use of the Just Cause 2 profile. Download nvidia enhancer and add the postman.exe to the just cause 2 profile to get it working.
#12 War of the Roses – Can’t Get it to Full Screen
It’s simple, just press Alt+Enter and you will be playing the game in the full-screen mode.
#13 War of the Roses Performance/Lag Fix
Here is what you need to do to see any improvement:
Go into the video options and switch “Max Stacking Frames” to 1
