Nintendo Doesn’t Care If they’re the First to the Next-Gen Market with Wii U

While most people are concerned with Nintendo’s next-gen offering being severely underpowered compared to the PS4 and Xbox 720, that makes all the more important for Nintendo to launch their console first, right?

Not necessarily so. In an interview with Gamasura, NIntendo CEO Saturo Iwata had this to say.

 Being first in the next generation race is not important at all…One of the reasons we believe this is the time for Nintendo to launch the Wii U is it’s going to be important for the world.

That’s kind of a big claim there, no? Of course, it’s also worth pointing out that Iwata can’t just admit that they need to be first, too, right?
