While game titles with numerical values exceeding two digits can be a little annoying for me, DUST 514 is one multiplayer title that I’m looking forward to. The game has quite a resemblance to Unreal Tournament – personally the best multiplayer shooter series I’ve played, but adds to it a unique touch of strategy, and quite a bit of Halo or MAG styled gameplay.

While one can go on about what DUST does and doesn’t have for quite a while, I’ll just limit myself to the vehicles in the game, which have really intrigued me, because they resemblance vehicles from older brilliant games, though still having their own unique touch.

Vehicles in DUST 514 aren’t quite similar to the modern-day battlefield vehicles. In fact, they have striking resemblance to some of the vehicles in Unreal Tournament 3. But these aren’t any normal vehicles; they can be modified and enhanced in numerous ways, ranging from weapons to different kinds of modules. This setup really adds to the balance of the game, as no single vehicle can impose absolute domination.

Now, the thing with DUST vehicles isn’t to blindly sit in them and attempt to wreak havoc. In fact, one has to make careful decisions of where to deploy the vehicle, based on strategic and environmental advantage. Vehicles can be deployed at any location accessible to the Rapid Deployment Vehicle or RDV drone. For those who don’t know, RDV drones are simply vehicle drop-ships with a fancy name. The important factor here is to decide which place is best for deployment, depending on the situation of the battle and your strategic position, not to mention environment.

There is also the role of the vehicle itself to consider. Heavier vehicles are best for tackling long-ranged targets and for mass murder, while lighter vehicles excel in mobility, and can take your from one place to another in a flash. For those who look for help from above, aerial vehicles can cast hellfire from above, and also provide fantastic support to other vehicles.
