Yes, they are working on yet another installment in the series. Rainbow Six series is among the best in the respective genre, good enough to sell over 25M copies to date. The new game is titled “Rainbow 6: Patriots” and is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with Ubisoft Toronto and Ubisoft Red Storm.

I am not surprised that they excluded “Vegas” part of Rainbow Six as Vegas 2 was criticized a lot for being similar to its predecessor. The storyline is based on the modern-day terrorism in which players will have a chance to play with multiple characters. Why it always has to be against terrorists? Ubisoft’s creative director has the answer:

Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6. In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction. This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience.

Ofcourse, there is nothing more intensive than the war against terrorism, Right? Good guys will go up against the rebels and try to save the country from their greedy plans. Along with an immersive singleplayer campaign, the game features new co-op and multiplayer modes with some new gameplay additions.

For all these changes, we will have to wait till 2013, that is when the game gets released. It will be the first game on consoles in 5 years after the release of Vegas 2 back in 2008.
