FIFA 12 Crashes, Freezes, Stuttering, Lag, Keyboard Controls Mapping, and Performance Fixes
FIFA 12 has been released in North America and though stunning in many ways, it still fails on several technical grounds for PC gamers. Starting with messy keyboard controls that will limit your ability to execute several skills and moves set.
If that wasn’t enough, the unbearable lag and poor overall performance and stuttering will ruin your day. Add to that random crashes and freezes and it becomes your first experience with FIFA 12 on PC.
EA has already released patches and updates that address few of these issues but sadly everything is not fixed.
So if you are experiencing any of these issues, you may want to look at the workarounds in our troubleshooting guide to temporarily resolve these issues till EA fixes everything with future patches and updates.
1# FIFA 12 Installation Problems
You have the disc version but you are asked to download it again from Origin ? Yes, sometimes you may end up doing that. Some of you may also not be able to play the game because of the release check, since FIFA 12 hasn’t been released in some regions.
Or You have downloaded the game, and when you click the executable, nothing happens, it just sits there and creates a crashdump file when you try to run it. If that’s the case, you may want to run it as admin in compatibility mode.
2# Update Broke FIFA 12
When you install FIFA 12, it prompts you to install an update – you install the update but still can’t play the game. Well, you may have to wait a bit more to play this game because obviously something is wrong at EA’s end, and when it is fixed, you will be able to play the game.
3# How To Change Arena Ball
A sweet trick if you don’t like the default Arena Ball. Just put one of the following codes in your rna.ini file – create one if you can’t find it. Don’t forget to remove the ball name that is in brackets. If you want to play with Seitiro EPL ball, put FREE_ROAM_BALL_ID=5 in your rna.ini file.

4# FIFA 12 Crashes and Shuts Down PC
You start your first match and in second half, FIFA 12 crashes to desktop and shuts down your PC.
5# FIFA 12 Lag Fix
If you are experience lag and poor performance with FIFA 12, download and Install This App.
- Open D3DOVERRIDER
- ADD FIFA 12.EXE (+) to the list.
- Application detection level (HIGH)
- Force triple buffering (ON)
- Force Vsync (ON)
Now Run game with D3D Application open. It’s a perfect lag fix for ATI users. For Nvidia users it does improve performance and fixes lag but not to that extent.
6# FIFA 12 Lag, Stuttering and Performance Fix
If you are experiencing low performance, lag, or stuttering while playing FIFA 12, disable AA and Vsync and run the game again. You can also try running the game in windowed mode to resolve the issue temporarily. You can follow the steps below to resolve this issue:
- Disable in game Vsync
- Disable in game Anti Aliasing
- Force Vsync with D3DOverrider (You can find the link above).
- Force Anti Aliasing on *ATI Catalyst Control Panel or Nvidia Control Panel.
7# FIFA 12 Freezes With Xbox 360 Controllers
FIFA 12 seems to have issues with default Xbox 360 controller drivers and if you are experiencing freezing issues and stuttering with the game while playing with your Xbox 360 controller on PC.
Uninstall Xbox 360 controller drivers and re-connect them. Let Windows configure the controller and start the game. You will definitely see improvement. FIFA 12 will run smoothly and won’t freeze.
8# FIFA 12 PC Controls Issue
You can follow the instructions here to resolve it, if you can’t configure the controls through FIFA 12 Setup settings.
9# How to Manually Map Keyboard Keys in FIFA 12
If you want to manually set keyboard controls in FIFA 12, you have to edit the buttonDataSetup.ini. Search the file with “keyboard” keyword and edit the button mapping as you want.

10# FIFA 12 Audio – Commentary Fix
Run the game in stereo. You can set the sound to stereo by going into the settings of your audio control panel.
11# Nvidia Performance Fix
Make sure you don’t download the newly release Battlefield 3 Beta drivers since they mess up FIFA 12. Keep earlier version of Nvidia drivers and things will be much smoother.
12# FIFA 12 Crashes To Desktop
For some people are experience random crashes to desktop, unplugging the controller has fixed the issue. Try your luck!
13# Origin Update Freezes – FIFA 12
Try to run the game as admin and then update the game.
14# How To Run FIFA 12 Windowed ?
I want you to not bash EA when you can’t find how to run the game Windowed. Just put FULLSCREEN = 0 in the fifasetup.ini file in your documents folder and you will be able to run the game in Windowed mode.
15# Game Face Freezes FIFA 12
When you go to download your Game Face, it freezes at every 5%. To fix this issue, erase your game face at My FIFA 12 – where it says profile – load/save/delete. Hit delete and delete the game face file. After that quit the game and restart. You should be able to download your game face again without any problems.

The Fifasetup.ini file can be found in your documents\fifa 12
There you can edit it, but it didn’t worked for me. I tried alt+enter like many people say, but ain’t working either….
Try documents in your user files in the fifa folder there, there is the fifasetup.ini.
My Fifa12 simply does not load. I´ve read a solution to set the documents/fifa12/inventory0/replay0 file to unwritable. However i do not have that file, even not hidden.

His instructions for how to launch in windowed mode don’t work. He said people shouldn’t bash EA because they could not find how to do it. But the fact is EA purposely removed this feature from the game. It was implemented in the demo then they removed it from the final product. EA have confirmed this on their forums.
Maybe he should test and see if what he’s saying is correct before telling people not to be upset with EA.
I try to add line FULLSCREEN = 0 in fifasetup.ini and do the same in the rna.ini (that i create in the fifa installation directory ) but nuthing, i cant play the game in window mode! please help !

Go in MyDocs/FIFA12/instance0/and make new text document with name replay0.bin ,then right click on this 2 icons in your folder and change them to read-only then Apply ,thiw will fix your problem ,but there is another one! When you will try to change your controll in settings game will crash again.
I’m 4 seasons in manager mode and the game suddenly crashes. does your fix help me? please?
I am a keyboard user. I use ‘s’ key for passing and ‘d’ key for shoot. (A & B controller action buttons respectively. And also ‘d’ key for player contain and ‘s’ for teammate contain. (B & A respectively)
But in fifa12 full version, the keys assigned for defense are interchanged. And whenever I try to interchange them again, the attacking keys also change i.e. the ‘d’ key becomes pass button and ‘s’ key becomes shoot button.
In fifa12 demo, i was able to change controller settings in the initial menu and I successfully interchanged A & B buttons (* to ps3/xbox controls).
But now I don’t find the option to edit the positions of A & B in fifa12 full version.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue? I just want B for player contain and A for teammate contain, without changing the attacking actions of A & B (i.e. pass & shoot respectively). Thanks in advance.
P.S. I’ve tried copying my Fifa11 settings to Fifa12 document folder, it didn’t work.

Same problem here we made it to the Mainmenu and now it randomly crashes while trying to join a game.
When it is installing in origin it takes 3 hours per 10%, is that ok?
When it was installing it came 35%, then it showed error and asks to download it again and again i am downloading

Hey guys, I was able to successfully run FIFA12 in window mode.
1) download DXWND,
2) Extract it and launch dxwnd.exe
3)Click edit and add fifa.exe located in C:Program Files (x86)FIFA 12Game
4) After adding fifa.exe, double click on the path in dxwnd to run the game in window mode. If you run the game from the shortcut, it won’t be windowed…

Hey Momo….what you can do is to go to your installation folder(directory where your game is installed), go to \Game> fifasetup> fifaconfig> open the application and go to \Game Settings\ In the aspect ratio, choose your choice..(if you have no clue as to your screen resolution, right click on your desktop> personalisation> display> check your current resolution and put the same)….Have fun!

yeah! if u have an internet connection just download ‘origin’.. i just searched it using Google.. and i installed it in my PC But..when i try to open FIfa 12 the Origin (Log-in menu) is the one who always shows… so i registered and logged in but there’s no games in ‘My Games’ of my Origin….. im about to fuck EA!!! please help me… let’s waste no time to find a solution for this!

Im tired of this game and i didnt even played it, first i got the bug from replay0.bin, were i hade to put the file as read only, then everytime i tried to change the frikin controls the game crashed when i was exiting the ” change controls menu “, well i frikin installed FIFA 11 just to get the file edited with the right controls, i finnaly was able to play the game, after 9 hours trying to put the stuff right, went to bed, next day starting the game, no profile was there, so i created a new one, and then guess what? A NEW PROBLEM, after i choose my favorite team, the game says ” profile cant be donne “, i searched everywere like i did in my past problems but there is no aswer that really works to this problem… so if anyone knows how to fix this s***, i would be etternally gratefull or wtv.

The installation of this game sucks. I am an IT professional and this is all I can say:
1) The installation procedures inside the box are wrong as thay suggest that you can install the game without Origin (users with disk) when in fact you apparently can’t.
2) Origin sucks. It installs correctly, then asks for an optional update installation, forces you to go ahead with the update, since cancelling doesn’t allow you to install FIFA, and then fails the update with a misterious error, giving no detail except “Origin can’t confirm the installation” or whatever.
3) EA sucks. All these game protection softwares end up protecting YOU from playing the game you bought. MAYBE THAT IS A GOOD THING after all!

My PC configuration is Core2Duo 2.2 GHz, 4GB Ram, and no Graphic card.
Earlier I had Windows XP, and it used to run pretty decently with the resolution 1280*720.

2- Open “Game” folder.
3- Open “fifasetup” folder.

6- Save the file and start the game.

My fifa has worked well and i havent got any problems until now. It went slower and slower and now i dont wanna play it anymore, because it is like it would be in slow motion. Not only when i start playing, but the arena and menu is slowmotion too. Whole game is fucked up now and i would really wanna play it. ive tried everything. all those advices above and ive re-installed the game but nothing works. pls help!

My fifa 12 freezes right after the first video an the hospitality thing.. I tried to disable the hospitality it cant save my settings, when enabled it can’t save my personal settings again. When i click on continue without saving it’s showing me Rooney with the ball but not the menu.. Rooney is frozen…. What am I supposed to do? thnx in advance.

I bought FIFA 12 from internet. downloaded it, play few week but now when i try to start the game it’s freezin on welcome screen. i repair the game.. uninstall and install again.. the same problem.. i don’t know what’s going on? what i have to do?

When i want to download the player updates, my screen freezes when i am at 100%. My whole xbox 360 crashes. I have to restart my xbox 360. I already tried to fix my disc at a game store, but it didnt worked. Everything works on fifa 12, except that and when i trying to do another formation in kick off when im playing with 2 (fifa 12 dont freezes with 1 player).
Someone can help me?

Simply: u cant play fifa 12 on a PC user, which name has space, between words and ,/./: etc.
to fix this u have to create a new PC user, name it 1 and then just play fifa 12 :
