Dota 2 Delayed To 2012 – Invite Only Beta To Launch Shortly

Valve did more than showing off its new property at Gamescom 2011. The studio backed the first public appearance of Defense of Ancients 2 with The International, a million dollar tournament featuring Top 8 best Dota teams of the World. As the tournament goes near to its conclusion, we have been given a good and a bad news by Valve – in respond to the feedback they received at Gamescom 2011.

The good news is that Valve has confirmed that an Invite Only beta will start shortly after the Gamescom 2011 with a large-scale open beta to follow later. The beta test pool will be pulled from the players registered for Steam account. Now the bad news, Valve co-founder and managing director Gabe Newell has confirmed to Gamespot that Dota 2 is now expected to release in early 2012.

Considering the long list of reservations Dota fans had about the game, it’s probably better that the game has been delayed since rushed game wouldn’t have met the huge mountain of expectations. Or not ?
