A live co-op demo of Battlefield 3 was showcased at GamesCom, revealing the intensity of the mode and some of its brilliant teamwork features. We’ve already seen the intensity of the multiplayer, and the single player demos have been extraordinary, so we know what to expect from the co-op mode as well.
The demo starts with two players infiltrating a building, tactically taking out enemies, sometimes stealthily while other times noisily (with lots of marine trash-talk) after sounding an alarm, and then taking the target package under their safety and trying to escape via a military jeep.
The darkness of the night isn’t friendly, and neither are the RPGs, so the on-screen player decides to use night-vision for hunting out the folks shooting explosive projectiles. In between he gets shot and goes down, but the other player has a med-kit, and quickly gets him back on his feet.
Once the RPGs have been taken care of, more orange-colored humanoid figures appear through the night-vision, and the player takes them out. After a bit of more shooting and more smoke and fire, the demo ends.
Yeah, it was a dark demo – literally. If you ask me it was the least mesmerizing piece of gameplay we’ve seen of Battlefield 3, but that’s just me. Share your thoughts about this demo by commenting below.
