Top 5 E3 2011 Surprises

We can’t expect E3 to be devoid of surprises and shocking announcements. You followed the event right? You must have noticed things that you were not expecting like we did. Following are top 5 announcements that surprised me at year’s biggest gaming event.

1. Bioshock Vita

When Irrational Games founder took the stage at E3, I was expecting something more exclusive to Playstation 3. While he did announce the exclusive Bioshock Infinite content, but what caught my eye, was the surprise announcement of Bioshock game for Sony’s new handheld, Playstation Vita.

2. Super Smash Bros

It has been 3 years since we have seen any Smash Bros game. It came as a surprise, when a new Super Smash Bros game was announced for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Something no one was anticipating.

3. Playstation Vita’s Price

I was expecting the price of new handheld by Sony to be above $300 mark. Surprisingly, the basic price came out to be $250. This shows Sony’s concerns for competing with Nintendo’s 3DS and Wii U in the market.

4. New Halo Trilogy

Halo 4 wasn’t a surprise in itself but “the start of a new trilogy” announcement got my attention.

5. Overstrike

Although there wasn’t any gameplay shown at the E3 2011 but the trailer displayed hinted that Insomniac is up to the task to turn this exciting new IP into a franchise.

If there were any other announcement that surprised you, share them with us in comments.
