Tomb Raider – Mission Types, Puzzles, and Gameplay

By   /   5 years ago

Crystal Dynamics took the inspiration to reboot Tomb Raider franchise from reboot of Batman Begins. Considering Lara Croft will undergo the same transformation as Bruce Wayne did as a protector of Gotham City.

Tomb Raider 2011 will feature three types of missions: Survive, Rescue, and Escape. Lara needs to return to her base camp to learn new skills, use new tools, or if she wants to go back to area that she has already discovered.

Puzzles in the game are inspired from the games like Half Life 2. You would be paying less attention to a number of switches to find your way and more on the interplay of fire and water, currents, gravity and weight of objects.

Every puzzle in Tomb Raider can be solved in variety of ways. Lara would use her survival instinct to highlight certain objects which would be useful in solving a specific puzzle but Lara can only activate her survival instinct while she stands still.

Innovative Camera Frame will let player read Lara’s mood from her facial expressions, fear and blurring effects.

The information has been taken from the preview of Tomb Raider 2011 by Spanish magazine Hobby Consolas.
