SOCOM 4 Beta and Multiplayer Details

Sony revealed the details on 4th iteration of their upcoming tactical shooter – SOCOM 4. Along with details on the multiplayer mode of the game came the announcement of the beta.

Sony detailed one of the four competitive modes in SOCOM 4 aka SOCOM: Special Forces in Europe and SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seal’s in North America has been detailed by Sony.

“The Bomb Squad mode” will feature bombs planted around the map by insurgents. The players along with their spec ops team must defuse all the devices before the timer reaches zero. This mode will feature a playable bomb disposal character, which will be the one running around defusing the planted explosives while the spec ops team covers the bomb technician. The bomb technician would also have its own arsenal of an automatic shotgun and a mobile grenade launcher.

Players will also be able to three additional modes – Suppression, Last Defense, and Uplink – in the Beta which will be playable on two maps i.e. Port authority and Assault & Battery Maps in either standard or Classic. Players will be bale to use both the Move controller as well as the Dual shock controller.

The beta kicks off in North America on March 22 and Europe on March 23 for PlayStation Plus members. Those who received a beta code with their purchase of Killzone 3 gain access to the beta on March 29. It will be available for the mass public starting April 5 in North America and April 6 in Europe.
