There were speculations about the new Frostbite 2.0 engine not supporting Windows Xp and DirectX 9 but it couldn’t be confirmed. This doubt had gamers thinking whether Battlefield 3 will support Windows Xp. Well the speculation is now confirmed. Developer of DICE, Johan Andersson has tweeted about it.

Frostbite 2 is primarily developed for DX11. XP & DX9 is _not_ supported, 64-bit OS is recommended. Lots of time to upgrade if you havent!

Coming from a developer we can agree that he is not fooling around but then again I doubt Dice will completely dismiss the Windows Xp platform. They can’t since more than 40% of all PCs still use the XP platform.
