Play Left4dead Maps in Left4dead 2 Using Add-on Support

Add-on support for Left4dead 2 is an exciting tool as one can play custom maps and campaigns even that of Left4dead. Using this Addon you can easily play several exciting modes by just replacing some VPK files in your Left4dead 2 directory.You can follow the guide below to smooth the process of transferring all the files to left4dead 2 using addon support.

Step 1| Install the Latest version of Left4dead 2 Add-on Support
You need to have Add-on support installed on your PC as no custom campaigns or modes will be useful without this one. You can download this add on support from here. Or you can check this website for latest updates and files.

Step 2| Extraction of the required vpk files to L4d2 directory
Download the respective vpk files for the Left4dead campaign, you want to play and extract them using 7z extractor to left4dead 2 addons folder i.e left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\addons.You can have these vpk files from here.

Step 3| Extraction of Addon_Support.vpk File
Now you need to extract the Addon_Support.vpk to your Left4Dead 2 addons folder.

Step 4| Addon_Sound Setup File
Run the Addon_Sound setup file and install it to your root Left4Dead 2 installation folder i.e ProgramFiles\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2 or whatever your left4dead 2 root directory is.

Step 5| Addon_Script File
At the end, extract Addon_scripts file - pak02_dir.vpk- to your Left4Dead 2 update folder i.e. left4dead 2\update.

This should be enough to play left4dead  campaigns on left4dead 2.

Troubleshooting
Don’t use any other extractor than 7z or you may corrupt the files during extraction.

If you are facing sound problem then in console, type “snd_rebuildudiocache“,  Let the process to complete. It may feel that the game is stuck but it is not. It will be back once the process is completed. After the completion type “quit” in the console to exit the game.
Restart the game and hopefully your sound issues will be resolved.

If you have any previous version of vpk files installed in your game then you will have to uninstall them by using “Uninstall_L4D1onL4D2Mod.exe“. You can download it from here.
Place it in the root directory of your game and then execute it to begin uninstall. Version v1.1 needs following vpk files to be removed manually from addon folder.
