Tom Clancy Splinter Cell:Conviction Preview

Ubisoft  is set on  continuing  with its stealth action game, Splinter Cell with a light/dark gameplay that made the game unique.
As senior producer Mathieu Ferland puts it:
“Splinter Cell’s core mechanics used to rely on lights and shadows. We wanted to keep the particular relationship the player was developing with his environment through his experience. Only, as a fugitive, the relation needed to be faster and the player also needs to think faster. We call thisnew game play “improvisation.” This stealth relation with the environment remains an important factor, but tools and mechanics for the gamer are completely supporting this new fugitive context: you’ll need more than just shadows to stay alive!”

This time Splinter cell comes with new twist, one that gives Sam fisher a veteran agent working for National Security Agency, a new role. In Splinter Cell: Conviction instead of walking in the shadows and completing the crucial mission for NSA , Sam Fisher is now a fugitive. AS it is evident from the last sequel, Double agent Sam was being hunted down by NSA and other security agencies and now he wants to clear his name in order to survive.
Conviction starts two years after the double agent, being hunted down by his former employer, the Sam is not the same guy with night vision headset, but with a new look and common clothing, he is a different person altogether.
With this new look Sam will be able to blend in with crowds while searching for clues to clear his name in the crowded district of Washington.
Sam will use the crowds to get in the guarded entrances by dropping things carried by civilians passing by e-g laptop and casually walking away.
He will have his mp5 under his coat which will help him in disarming the guards and be on his way.
The attention gauge is disarmingly simple, moving from green to red as more and more recognition builds. If a particular face appears by the gauge, someone has recognized Fisher’s face from the wanted posters or news, and is really on his case. If that gauge goes red, he is going to have to deal with someone trying to capture him by force.
Once Sam is in Washington Dc he will need all the help he can get in order to avoid authorities and pursue his goal.
As far as Sam’s usual gadgets are concerned we might not have typical high tech stuff as most of the supplies and equipment will come from the black market.
As always the basic hand to hand combat is there but besides the usual boxing or fighting moves, the developers at ubisoft are working hard to incorporate, a huge diversity of finishing moves e-g seizing people with legs and throwing them over the balconies. The developers are still working on this aspect of the gameplay and have already promised some awesome innovations.
This game is expected to  be released on PC, Xbox360 and PS3 but the release date is still undecided.
